Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the problem of the evaluation of non-formal and informal learning at universities. The practice to evaluate the prior knowledge, the experience a person has gained in different environment: at work, different courses, training, etc. is used in many countries in the world. France has been using this practice for about twenty years and has developed its own system of evaluation and recognition of non-formal and informal learning which is presented in this paper. A piloting experiment was conducted in our country to determine a need in Lithuania to develop such a system at universities. The statistical data of the piloting experiment is presented.
