Summary/Abstract: In 2018, amendments to the law entered into force, which extended and reduced theterm of administrative officer of the commune, mayor, and city president. There is a disputein the doctrine regarding the constitutionality of the adopted regulations. Constitution of theRepublic of Poland leaves the ordinary legislator to determine the principles and procedurefor electing the executive bodies of local government units. The literature presents agrumentsfor and against the introduced changes. The adopted changes are effective from the term ofoffice started in 2018, terms that have already ended are not taken into account.
