Summary/Abstract: Missionary time remains a fascinating period of transition in the life cycle of the Church; it provides unforgettable love of God and service for the growth of the Church. Commitment to apostolic work, putting up organizational structures, appropriate methods, together with personal humility, fidelity and persevering attitude amidst persecutions and difficulties offer a living example, and serve as a light to the people ministered by missionaries. St. Justin de Jacobis is one of those missionaries who gave his life for the love of the Gospel. He arrived (with two other priests: Fr. Montuori and Fr. Sapeto) in the Christian country where a white missionary was hated very much. To convert and unite the Christians of Ethiopia and Europe who were divided into two was not an easy task. It required specific structures, approaches and a lot of patience. St. Justin de Jacobis was responsible for the fruitfulness and sustainability of the mission in Ethiopia. To ensure its success, he came up with a Strategic Action Plan. From the very beginning he decided to adapt the Ethiopian (today’s Ethiopia and Eritrea) culture to the missionary endeavours to avoid any future danger of particular hostility and not to risk his apostolic mission.
