Summary/Abstract: Based on the decision of the Holy Assembly of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church, starting in 1964, the Church Slavonic language is used in parallel with the standard Serbian language for worshiping. In this paper, we plan to evaluate the presence of the Church Slavonic language in the new prayer services that are written at the end of the 20th century and in the 21st century in the process of canonization of particular saints or in the process of establishing church holidays in honor of newly announced icons of Holy Mother Mary that did not have their own service. We analyze few prayer services written in Church Slavonic and demonstrate that Church Slavonic can adequately express new realia.
