Summary/Abstract: In our article we shall discuss two prologues, which were unknown up to now — the lives of two serbian patriarches who became saints — the prologue of Saint patriarch Paisije I of Janjevo (1614–1647) and the prologue of Saint patriach Gabriel I Raic (1648–1655), who became a martyr upon his tragic death in 1659. Although patriach Gabriel was the successor of patriarch Pajsije, his martirial death enabled him to have his saints cult and saints service earlier, but his service does not include his saints life or prologues. Saint service of patriarch Pajsije does not exist and needs to be written. Saints life of patriarch Pajsije, that we are presenting here, is the one and only known ancient source which testifies to his saintly feast or primordial form of cult and goes back to the 19th century. In the content of manuscript of Anthony’s notebook (ASPEB GR 45), we reveal two forgotten texts which were written by Anthony hieromonk. Not only do those two texts fulfill the missed hagiographical texts, but we get a precious testimony on the beginnings of cults of this two prominent Serbian patriarches as well. In this article we shall present the path of development of the aforementioned cults and full original texts of two prologues of Serbian saints and in this way we resolve the lack which has existed.
