The Intangible Cultural Heritage of the City of Belarus in Modern Conditions

Summary/Abstract: The author draws attention to the specificity of the urban intangible heritage in Belarus. The elements of urban on the National List of Historical and Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Belarus are presented. Both positive and negative development trends are revealed. The positive ones are connected with the involving of intangible heritage in local cultural development plans, its safeguarding by the National List, increasing of urban population interest in heritage and using of participatory practices for safeguarding. Among the negative aspects of intangible heritage in the cities are economic pressure, cultural globalization,demographic changes, decontextualization and commercialization.
