Summary/Abstract: In 1917, in Volhynia, the structures of the Polish Educational Society were established. Its activists were mainly the representatives of gentry, clergy and intelligentsia. Their main goal was the Polonization of this region, which was incorporated into the borders of the Second Polish Republic on the basis of the provisions of the Treaty of Riga. Care activities conducted in the interwar period assumed different forms. Care was provided in various areas by different entities. One of organizations involved in protective actions was the Polish Educational Society. Its main activities included running orphanages and nursery schools. This organization was active in entire Poland at that time, although it played a particularly important role in the Eastern Borderlands. In the submitted article, orphanages and nursery schools of the Polish Educational Society run in Volhynia will be described. The analysis carried out based on the preserved materials shows some dynamic changes in this respect – establishing new institutions, closing old ones, financial and personnel difficulties in carrying out these works. Despite these limitations, the Polish Educational Society tried to take care of the youngest children, because one of the mail goals related to running nurseries and kindergartens was to protect these children against by providing them with the opportunity to speak and learn the Polish language.
