Summary/Abstract: The considerations contained in the presented sketch are devoted to Professor Karol Poznański, who turned 90 on 14 February 2021. The reflection aims to show the scientific biography of the Professor, who is one of the outstanding Polish education historians. He has made a great contribution to the development of the Polish history of education and upbringing as a champion and tutor of many researchers, and as the author of numerous scientific works. He actively participates in scientific life as an organiser and participant of conventions and scientific conferences, mainly in the field of history of upbringing. His rich scientific output, as well as organisational and teaching activities, make him a man of the university. He perfectly combines his work as a researcher with duties of an academic teacher. The output of his works have resulted in the promotion a generation of researchers who proved very successful in their academic endeavours. Professor Karol Poznański’s scientific and organisational activities also contributed to the institutionalization of Polish science. The analysis of his academic biography indicates that, in his academic activities, he embodies the ideals of a scholar, teacher and administrator. The text was prepared on the basis of printed sources, studies, archives and primary sources.
