Coin Hoard with Ottoman Akce Coins of Mehmed II from the Settlement of Bruchma (Silistra Region)

Summary/Abstract: In the fund of Silistra Museum of History is kept a small coin hoard, which so far has not been the subject of scientific attention. The find comprises 7 silver Ottoman akce coins of Sultan Mehmed II, which were found near Bruchma Village, Silistra Region. All 7 specimens were cut down in 875AH (1470–1471 AD). Two of them were minted in Novar, one coin was minted in Bursa, the other 4 in Edirne. The publication of these coins enriches the information about the coin circulation in the Silistra Sanjak in the 15th century.
