Summary/Abstract: Jan Oszacki was born on October 1, 1915 in Moravian Ostrava in a family with medical traditions. His father, Aleksander, was a professor of internal medicine at the Jagiellonian University, while his cousin and peer Jerzy Oszacki graduated a little earlier than Jan and became an internist (he died tragically in the explosion of an oxygen chamber in 1939).
