Summary/Abstract: Spoken language is an organism în continual transformation. It reflects the changes în the cultural, political, economic environment. The present article presents not only some of the influences that American English exerts over the present day vocabulary of the Romanian language, but also new words în the lexis of contemporary French, words that were introduced în 2010 editions of prestigious explanatory and encyclopaedic dictionaries, such as Larousse, Robert and Dixel.
