Summary/Abstract: The article analyses the Fukuda Doctrine, following the context in which it appeared, the discourse that formalized it, its implementation, as well as its successes and consequences. This Japanese doctrine of foreign policy was an important stage in the reconstruction, after World War II, of the relations between the states of Southeast Asia and between Japan and ASEAN.
