Summary/Abstract: The article considers the history of the establishment and activity of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine (BCCU), the only foreign economic organization of the Belarussian People’s Republic that has successfully developed trade relations with Ukrainian economic entities during much of 1918. The role of Professor Mitrofan DovnarZapolsky in the organization and successful activity of this commercial structure is shown. The organizational and legal basis of the functioning of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce in Kiev and its staff are analyzed. The relations of the BCCU leadership with the BPR leadership, local self-government bodies and business structures of Belarus are discussed in detail. The article also refl ects the uneasy relations of the BCCU first with the socialist government of the Ukrainian People’s Republic, and subsequently with the government of Hetman Pavel Skoropadsky. The publication also shows the role of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine in financing political initiatives of the BPR government and the Belarusian press.
