Summary/Abstract: How do women in patriarchal societies make their voices heard in the public arena? The paper takes the reader on a journey through time, exemplifying Iranian society through the voices of female poets, in three different patriarchal eras: early patriarchy, neopatriarchy, and post-neopatriarchy. The socio-cultural and political analyses cover the work of three female poets representing these eras. The search for self-expression, the quest for connection, and the rejection of marginality are reflected in both macro- and micro-level analyses of these poems.
