Summary/Abstract: The article focuses on the novel D. Teresa. Uma mulher que não abriu mão do poder (2015) by Isabel Stilwell. It showcases how the author constructs ‘her Teresa’ (Stilwell, 2015, 503). At first, a traditional image of the countess is recalled with the aim to look into how it gets revisited by Stilwell. The analysis is conducted in the light of research on historical novel. Further references are made to research on women’s history.
