TRACES OF GLACIAL DEPOSITS ON THE CENTRAL VELEBIT

Summary/Abstract: The author of this article deals with the problem of glacial deposits and their ttraces on the central part of Velebit. He, by taking into consideration a great number of works about glaciers and the conception of glacial period and, by analyzing the ideas therefrom, offers also his observations and conclusions. So, he concentrates on the question of relief predisposition for the evolution of glaciers and treats also climatic peculiarities of Velebit during Quartemary period and of morphological traces of glacial deposits. He, at the end, draws a conclusion that relief relations on central Velebit, beside low temperature conditions and abundance of the snow precipitations in the course of Pleistocene, were very favourable predisposition for the development of glaciation on that region.
