Summary/Abstract: In the context of the new digitalized era, when technology plays an important part in communication and human interaction, we are dealing with anew type of creativity and innovation in language, i.e. a variety of words and phrases that reflect the changes in the way the young generation communicate now. Therefore, in this article the focus is placed on the language of teenagers used intexting, by examining some of the “most frequent, innovative, but also intensely ill reputed, features of teen language” (Tagliamonte, 2016: 2), offering examples from both English and Romanian. Moreover, we agree that, whether we like it or not, teenage language is “critical to the advancement of language evolution and society itself” (Tagliamonte, 2016: 2), and we have to pay particular attention to the means they use to change the language.
