Summary/Abstract: The interaction between verbal and non-verbal communication often determines understanding and perception. Meaning is influenced by chronemics or proxemics, while other aspects, such as artifacts or even olfactics, affect communication in face-to-face interactions. Therefore, communication involves a lot more than semantics, especially nowadays that it can occur virtually as well. Consequently, it is essential to approach non-verbal, non-visible or intangible parameters with increased attention, as is the case in negotiating, because the relationship level of meaning is sometimes equally important as the content level (Wood 2016), thus proving to be critical in avoiding conflict in verbal and non-verbal messages.
