Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effect of psychic distance factors on internationalization decisions of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Particularly, this paper offers interesting insights into the literature because of the limited number of academic studies related to psychic distance factors in Turkey and the presence of contradictory findings about the effect of these factors in literature. This study takes into consideration all psychic distance indicators which have been found in earlier studies and indicates how effective those factors are for SMEs in Turkey as an emerging country. The results of the empirical study confirm that psychic distance factors have an impact on the internationalization decisions of companies and the extent of impact of these factors vary considering internationalization degree and number of countries they operate.
