Summary/Abstract: It is a fact that the globalization process has direct and indirect effects on national borders. This reality shows itself more and more every day in the context of most non-military threats, which have become evident since the end of the Cold War, and its impact is felt. Considering that the effectiveness of the nation-state as a political institution largely depends on its sovereignty over its territory, and this is achieved through the control mechanism over the information, goods, capital and human resources that pass through its borders, domestic and foreign investments, interdependence, international migration, epidemics, environmental problems. It is witnessed that the 19th century control methods erode all the borders built between national and foreign, by mass travel, international migration, mass media and similar phenomena. In this context, nation-states have difficulty in fulfilling their traditional functions, and global factors influence the decisions made by governments more. In this study, the effects of the globalization process on borders are examined in general terms.
