Summary/Abstract: This article analyses the influence on Italian and European private law of the UNESCO and UNIDROIT Conventions and European directives on the return of stolen and illicitly exported cultural goods. In effect, international rules have influenced the application of rules on the bona fide purchase of movable property, amending the provisions in force in most European countries and contributing to the constitution of a particular statute for cultural property.
