Summary/Abstract: In this paper, we will track some major moments in the modernist process between 1944 and 1964 in two cultural sectors: literary (where we witness the rejection of literature, particularly French modernist poetry) and philosophical (rejecting existentialism and the fluctuating reception of Jean-Paul Sartre). Moreover, this research will enable us to outline the varying process of Romanian-French cultural exchanges during this time period, exposing their distinct political character.
