Summary/Abstract: The article presents some views and comments on some of the global players in the 21st century, such as NATO, an alliance constrained to currently act in a profoundly changed global order. There are presented and succinctly analysed the transformation of NATO nature, its competences and scope, from the perspective of the “Pacific Century” paradigm, as well as the North Atlantic Alliance possible responses to the current security challenges. The Warsaw Summit set as priority goal the consolidation of the transatlantic partnership through strengthening NATO-EU cooperation, seeking a common understanding of security and cooperation with the European Union related to issues such as: cyber-security, hybrid threats countering, maritime security
