Summary/Abstract: This article introduces modern foreign language examination practices at the GCSE Polish exams, which belong to the so-called lesser taught languages in the UK’s schools, to the Polish-speaking audience. It starts within an attempt to dispel a misconception that GCSE examination maps onto the Polish educational system. Next, it provides a brief explanation of the level of demand, grading system, assessment objectives, an overview, and the outline of the exam papers at the foundation and higher tier of Polish language at the GCSE level according to the newest specification provided by AQA. Finally, it closes with an open question about the uncertain future of the abovementioned qualification given the dynamic political changes in the UK.
