Summary/Abstract: The article pursues two goals: one is the description of the course of the first edition of the Competition for bachelor’s and master’s thesis, completed in 2020 by students of conducted at the University of Lodz fields: “Information in the digital environment” and “Informatology with business English”. The second goal of the study is to outline the background for Lodz’s experience, as a short overview of activities that illustrates the existing competitions in a cross-sectional way (tradition and types of competitions), presents the motives and aspirations of the organizers (competition’s goals), and provides some information on the evaluation of submitted works (elements of the evaluation of competition entries). In this part of the article, materials related to competitions (announcements, regulations) posted on the Internet turned out to be a useful source.
