Robotization during the fourth industrial revolution in the world and in the Hungarian industry in regional approach

Summary/Abstract: During the last decade in harmony with international trends the application of robotsin Hungarian industry is increasing, too,however the social geographical studying ofthis phenomenon has not received special attention yet. Based on specifically created database, this study reveals the major characteristics of industrial enterprises using robots and the more important geographical features of robotization in relation to the spatial pattern of industry. The robotization of the Hungarian industry is characterized by a significant company, sectoral and spatial concentration. Robots are used most frequently in vehicle production, the electronics and the chemical industry, located primarily in the northern part of the country, mainly in Northern Transdanubia. In the future the number of industrial robots will increase considerably, particularly in the food industry,and their spatial distribution will become more balanced, too.
