Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present an outline of the theory of human and civil rights from a historical perspective. The author shows the influence of Western political thought, in particular the doctrine of natural law and liberal constitutionalism, on the evolution of human rights, from the political and legal idea to statutory law.
