Summary/Abstract: Religious themes have their position as a important part in the wholy history of art. The authors displayed in these motifs not only biblical events but also reflection of their own existential questions and they put here their inner survival of faith. The Supper in Emmaus is one of such biblical motifs. Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn (1606 – 69) one of the most famous artists of all time, left us two paitings which divides the period of twenty years. The twenty years which divides these two paitings brought to him personal examinations and tragedies in his life. We can admire not only his professional paintart, thoughtful composition, light atmosphere – Rembrandt has displayed here deeper meaning with penetraiting psychological studies of characters. He revealed a lot of his own experiencing faith.
