The attitudes of primary school teachers on inclusive education in the Republic of Macedonia

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study was to determine the teacher’s attitudes towards the inclusion of students with disabilities in their classes in 25 primary schools. Specifically designed questionnaire for this study was used in the research. Data were obtained from total of 879 teachers. The purpose of the study was to determinate the number of pupils with special education needs included in regular schools, teachers’ attitude about inclusive education as well as their views on the special educators and rehabilitators’ role in the regular classes. Data obtained that numerous pupils with developmental disabilities do not have appropriate documentation, finding and opinion, and that the teachers declaratively accept the inclusive education in their schools, but not in their classrooms.
