Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the spatial dimension of poverty in Łódź. The analyses are based on the data of the Municipal Social Welfare Centre in Łódź, containing information on the distribution of benefit recipients, spatially aggregated to the level of quarters. The spatial variability of the poverty level was studied using the location index and the local Moran statistics (LISA). The results of the research made it possible to indicate a clear spatial pattern manifested in the form of an increased level of poverty in the centre of Łódź. A number of clusters were also distinguished, i.e. spatially correlated quarters with a high percentage of benefit recipients and the accompanying areas of high contrasts of the analysed phenomenon.
