Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the presented study is to attempt to apply and evaluate selected techniques of space syntax in the configurational analysis of pedestrian routes within a multi--family residential estate. The spatial research area encompasses Teofilów B, one of the three parts of Teofilów – a multi-family residential estate in Lodz. The goals have been achieved in three stages: firstly, the construction of a theoretical representation of pedestrian routes within the researched area and the calculation of their selected configurational parameters, secondly the observation of the actual pedestrian movement in the researched area, and thirdly the evaluation of the correspondence between the actual pedestrian movement and the theoretical measures. The results obtained show an significant correlation between the theoretical values and the actual pedestrian movement in the researched area. This proves that the theoretical model of the pedestrian route network and the applied measures developed in the field of space syntax highly correspond with the actual intensity of pedestrian traffic. Therefore, they are a valuable tool that facilitates the planning and organisation of urban layouts, making it possible to not only test spatial solutions in their design phase but also justify the reorganisation of existing layouts.
