Summary/Abstract: Renowned archaeologist and epigraphist of Greco-Roman antiquity, with special reference at Dacia and Scythia Minor (Dobrogea), Professor Emilian Popescu was the author of numerous valuable contributions to the ancient history of Romania , epigraphyc studies of the religions, instruction and ancient education of the Pontic cities, place and the role of Christianity on Romanian territory, especially in Scythia Minor, in the whole of Christian history from the 3rd – 7th centuries AD, the church hierarchy on the Romanian territory starting from the mentioned period until the 15th century,historical geography of the Balkan Peninsula in the III-VII centuries.
