Summary/Abstract: The author considers the physical presence of landmines in space, but also the symbolic meanings in social space. She quotes the daunting data about the dispersion of landmines on terrains throughout Croatia (but also, of course, in Bosnia and Herzegovina), about the victims, but also about those hopeless people playing a kind of Bosnian roulette – betting to ride motorcycles through minefields. She also speaks about "mines" and "mining" that people may commit to one another both in the negative, and in the positive sense. Thus, she quotes, among others, the case of the poet Vesna Parun, whose life was also full of "mines", that is, problems arising from colleagues, surrounding people. She also quotes a good example of artistic "mining" of a classical text in the play by Jelena Lukić "Who cares for Ana Karenina".
