Summary/Abstract: In the light of recent events on the international stage, the West has begun to realize that informational warfare (IW) conducted by Russia is a serious threat to the US and its European allies, especially the former Soviet states. So far, it has been found that the Kremlin’s IW doctrine, consistently created over the past two decades, seems to be flexible and adapted to the information reality. Russia’s actions accelerate the occidental trust decline in international alliances and organizations, public institutions and in the media. IW is using a wide range of techniques to infect information space, increase polarization of the masses, and undermine democratic debates. These techniques have developed up to networks and corporations, and this reality threatens the stability of the world order, facilitating kompromat and the spread and dissemination of maskirovka.
