Technological developments in the field of satellite communications

Summary/Abstract: Just as the world is evolving, the requirements for telecommunication technologies are becoming more and more demanding. When they first emerged, the satellites revolutionized the telecommunications market as they allowed the development of data and voice transmissions over long distances as well as of the television.The terrestrial fiber optics networks proved to be an obstacle to extensive satellite communications expansion due to the fact that they provide the same volume of traffic for much lower costs. Despite it, the satellites are increasingly required to carry the nowadays civilian and military communications. The new technologies can provide cheaper and cheaper voice, data and video over satellite anywhere on Earth.
