Summary/Abstract: The article attempts to consider the impact of two dimensions of the information revolution on the course of armed conflicts. The authors present a theoretical reflection on the dynamic development of social media and the dominant position of various transnational corporations. They also draw attention to the blurring of distinctions between the digital and the real world, which generates interaction affecting the defensive readiness of democratic states open societies. The text does not aspire to exhaust the topic; it is concluded with an appeal to build a dialogue dedicated to security in a broad sense between specialists with engineering competences, researchers of the social dimension of the information revolution and people working on security issues.
