Summary/Abstract: Badiuk Mykhailo, Pasko Irina. Review of the biobibliographic index “Rein George Iermolaevych. Doctor and reformer“ Writers: N.I. Mamedova, l.E. Kornilova, I.M. Soroka, O.Ya. Antonyuk; scientific editor: T.A. Ostapenko, National scientific medical library of Ukraine. Kyiv, 2020. 160 p. The next issue of the biobibliographic index “Rein George Iermolaevych. Doctor and Reformer” of the series “Society of Kyiv doctors in persons” from the National Scientific Medical Library of Ukraine is a logical addition to the chronicle of domestic medicine in documents and bibliography. It is dedicated to Academician George Iermolaevych Rein (1854–1942), a prominent professional in the most humane field of medicine – obstetrics and gynecology. Namely G.E. Rein in 1888 created, developed and managed for 12 years the first university obstetrics and gynecology clinic in Ukraine, which met the best Western European standards of the time. In 1903–1904 he organized the developing, writing and printing (1906) of the first large-scale work on the analysis of obstetric and gynecological care in the Russian Empire, “Obstetrics in Russia”, which was based on a collection of reports at the IX Pirogov Congress. Later, in Paris, he wrote and published memoirs “From the Past”, which became an invaluable source of systematic scientific information about the content and implementation of the first health care reform in the Russian Empire; this reform was initiated and improved under his direction in 1910–1917. G.E. Rein was and remains a recognized founder of the scientific school of obstetrics and gynecology, which covered several generations of scientists and practitioners, including a number of prominent personalities of domestic and foreign medicine. Among them are professors: O.A. Redlich, G.F. Pisemsky, K.K. Skrobansky, S.G. Zaretsky, I.V. Sudakov. The materials and bibliographic rarities from private collections published in this issue are an important contribution to the allinclusive nationwide research and educational work on the recollection of undeservedly forgotten names in the history of Ukrainian medicine. They will also promote the prestige of Ukrainian medical science in the international medical community.
