Summary/Abstract: The present paper analyses the harmony between the philosophie views of two prominent figures in the Old Bulgarian and Old Russian culture: John the Exarch (9th-10th cc.) and Clement Smoljatich (second quarter of the 12th c.). Clement Smoljatich's message to Presbyter Thomas reflects ideas and topics from John the Exarch's Haexameron. It is pointed out that Clement Smoljatich's attitude to ancient heritage stems out directly from the ideas and points of view expressed by John the Exarch with respect to this issue.
