Determination of weights for features in problems of linear ordering of objects

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study is to propose a system for determining the weighting coef-ficients for the characteristics. The paper presents three approaches. The first approach consits in using statistical procedures (objective approach). The second approach − the sub-stantive one is based on expert opinions (subjective approach). The third one – integrated − combines subjective and objective approaches. The proposed integrated approach was ap-plied to test the level of socio-economic development of regions in Poland in 2011, using the TOPSIS method (Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution).
