Summary/Abstract: The paper aims to focus on topics of correct language usage that is presented in the first dictionary of Mexican Spanish, composed by a Cuban immigrant. The hypothesis is that the dictionary can offer interesting data on the contrast between Mexican and Cuban Spanish, as its author was a speaker of a different regional variety of the language. At the same time, it is interesting to see his conception of normativity related to Mexican Spanish on one hand and Academic European Spanish centered standard on the other hand, represented here by Academic dictionary and other dictionaries published by Spanish authors. Finally, it contains a debate that the author maintained with another Cuban lexicographer, that would relativize its status as the first dictionary of Mexican Spanish.
