Summary/Abstract: Rebel-partisan struggle in the Katerinoslav region during its nominal stay under the power of the Directory of the Ukrainian People's Republic in mid-December 1918 – early February 1919 is one of the little-studied pages of national history. The purpose of the article is to reveal the role of irregular armed groups in the struggle for power in the region during this period. Objective of the study: to show the military-political situation in the territory of Katerinoslav region at the time of its transition under the control of the Directory; name the main participants of the rebel-partisan movement in the region at the turn of 1918–1919 and their aims; study their role in hostilities in the region, to determine the main achievements. The article considers the course of the rebel-partisan movement in the Katerinoslav region during the stay of the region under the rule of the Directory of the Ukrainian People's Republic. It was determined that its participants were supporters of anarchism, Bolshevism and the Ukrainian government. Their military activities occupied a prominent place against the background of revolutionary events in the region. Thus, anarchist and Bolshevik irregular formations did not allow government forces to take full control of the left bank of the region, and also played an important role in ensuring the occupation of Katerinoslav region by regular Soviet troops during the Second World War of Soviet Russia with the UPR. Ukrainian irregular forces, for their part, have provided significant assistance to the domestic government in the fight against the insurgents, and after the expulsion of government troops from the territory of the region, they continued to fight the occupying Soviet army for some time.
