Summary/Abstract: The article is an attempt to outline problems connected with events recorded in the Intangible Cultural Heritage list in Poland. Inherently, the monitoring is to be made every five years and be conducted by the National Heritage Board. The author issues a series of questions and focuses on answering four of them: the monitoring goals and effects, the subject of monitoring; key principles to be followed when compiling guidelines for monitoring, the way in which the monitoring may be translated into safeguarding measures strengthening. The monitoring process is understood as a stage of the intangible cultural heritage strategic management being organised and implemented in Poland. Its greatest and paramount goal might be to appeal to depositaries and encourage them into taking more effective, sound and comprehensive efforts aimed at reasserting the vitality of intangible heritage phenomenon.
