Summary/Abstract: The text analyses the sermon delivered on 11 April 1812 in the Cracow Cathedral Church by Wincenty Łańcucki at the funeral of Włodzimierz Potocki. This sermon is one of many gathered in an archival collection called Archive of the Potockis and the Ostrowkis from Maluszyn, located in the State Archive in Łódź. Łańcucki’s sermon which was delivered at Włodzimierz Potocki’s funeral was published in Cracow, in 1812, in Gröblowskiey Printing House. Wincenty Łańcucki was a valued preacher. While he was preparing this sermon, he needed to implement both old Polish rhetoric rules and those pertaining to writing funeral speeches. Moreover, the author did not forget to make use of the best ancient and French speech delivery traditions
