Summary/Abstract: The paper explores the effects of floods from April 1932 on the population of Alba County, especially localities from the Mures Valley. Although some reference is also made to the neighbouring districts, the central theme is Alba Iulia town and neighbouring villages, Oarda de Jos, Ciugud, Partoș etc. The presented information is based on unpublished archive documents, from the holdings of Alba Prefecture or Alba Iulia Town Hall, newspaper articles from the age, but also the Marily le Nir photo collection. The article discusses at length also the measures taken to help the distressed, the organised collections and the associations and institutions involved in the support services. For example, Alba County Prefecture was the most involved institution, the intervention measures in the case of such a debacle falling within its remit. The Prefecture appealed to all population to collect funds for the distressed from Oarda de Jos, Partoș, Totoi, Coșlariu, Beldiu etc. In the full-fledged financial crisis, the collected amount of money was negligible. However, in the given context, king Carol II sent a considerable amount. No data is kept on the caused damages, yet, even in their absence, based on available information, one may affirm that the extension of the disaster was considerable, putting this event at the forefront of calamities that affected Alba Iulia town in the XXth century.
