Keywords: human sound; semantic feature; unstressed; meaning unit.
Summary/Abstract: The paper provides a structural lexical-semantic analysis of the paradigm of human sounds (those marked by the semantic feature [unstressed] in particular). The distinctive semantic features for this paradigm are: [produced by a human being], [-stressed], [+tonality], [+intention], [+emotion]. They appear in a variety of contexts, both in Romanian and in French. The contrastive Romanian-French analysis requires a detailed investigation in order to identify the minimal meaning units and a combinatorial analysis in order to form the higher meaning units. Therefore, we highlight the common or specific features for the two languages.
