Summary/Abstract: At the end of the 19th century, steam boilers were periodically tested in Modruš-Rijeka County, both in terms of their use in general and in terms of the implementation of safety regulations. They were tested by county agents, and their owners paid fees to regional tax offices for the tests and audits performed. Steam boilers in Modruš-Rijeka County at the end of the 19th century were used in steam sawmills, factories and other commercial properties, mainly in the districts of Ogulin, Vrbovsko, Delnice and Čabar.
