Summary/Abstract: The economy is seeing the growing importance of the financial sector. We define this phenomenon as financialization. In economic practice, in academic considerations, this phenomenon is not clearly defined. According to the classic approach formulated by Epstein (2005, p. 3), financialization means an increasing role of financial motives, financial markets, and financial elites in the functioning of domestic and international economies. This phenomenon is global. It is the subject of intense research conducted on a global, regional and national scale.
