Summary/Abstract: The paper addresses the phenomena of modern literature’s referral to classical fiction texts and adaptations of classical literature. Assigning a new place to classical literature in the modern cultural and historical consciousness is directly related to the socio-cultural parameters of the epoch. Modern literature often refers to the image of Alexander Pushkin and his works. Furthermore, the presence of Pushkin’s verses and the image of the poet himself in “other author’s texts” is an important feature of the modern literary process. The article presents the examples of various sequels and adaptations of Pushkin’s novel Eugene Onegin. A graphic guide with a commentary to Eugene Onegin created by a writer and school teacher Alexey Oleynikov and illustrated by Natalia Yaskina is a new form of comprehending the classical novel, which is a combination of a graphic novel and a real historical and literary commentary that covers various aspects including those of Pushkin’s epoch. The book is an alternation between the original Pushkin’s text and the commentary with some historical and cultural references and infographics. Such interpretation of a classical book is an illustrative example of creating new types of texts amid the crisis of literature-centrism.
