Summary/Abstract: Engaged for more than 20 years in research on Vanga, the Bulgarian clairvoyant and national Pythia, the author presents her finding of Vanga’s exposure and function at the museum of Kremna prophecy, the “Serbian Delphi” in Western Serbia, during fieldwork led in 2010-2011. The paper first outlines the local context and the history of the production, by two visionary men of Tarabic lineage, of prophecies widely known by the name of the village. Then it follows the logic and the circumstances in which the Kremna prophecies have been brought to public knowledge, to become a banner of Serbian national aspirations and during the last decades, of nationalism. A special section is dedicated to the bulk of prophecies attributed to Vanga and their function as both a legitimation of local prophets and the inscription of visionary work in the longue durée history as well as in cosmic processes. Finally, the analysis brings forth the importance of border, and of boundary broadly speaking, in the micro-areas where outspoken national prophets are born and have lived.
