Summary/Abstract: Several critic statements have been launched, lamenting the lack of crime novel authors or essays dedicated to the genre, in Romanian literature, bringing back into question the fact that: “there were no truly memorable authors of crime novel, unlike other contemporary literatures, during communism”, but also the fact that: “our detective novel needs a rebranding operation”. In consequence, through the present study, evoking the historical-social dynamics of the crime novel, presenting the narrative structure specific to the crime novel and performing a critical analysis of Rodica Ojog-Braşoveanu's “crime novel”, entitled “Romanian's Agatha Christie”, we will answer the question “Why we don't have another crime novel?”.
